What started off as an idea, is now coming to life.
Jordan J. Jeffries: Studio is a Scottish independent artist, based in Troon, South Ayrshire, and our aim to make art accessible to all.
Jordan found a love for art at a very young age, always creating drawings influenced by movies and building sculptures out of anything he could get his hands on. Jordan didn’t consider himself to be an artistic person until his first year at secondary school when one of his drawings was chosen for a competition, it was at that moment, Jordan knew that art was exactly what he wanted to do in life.
In 2020, Jordan graduated with a Scottish Bachelor’s Degree in Contemporary Fine Art Practice. For years, it was Jordan’s dream to become a successful artist with his own business, finding his place in the world. However, after graduating in 2020, he felt burned out and uninspired. Since graduating, Jordan has faced multiple barriers to ‘break into’ the art community as there is a sense of stigma around what is ‘allowed’ and what is ‘valid’. It's time for this to change and make art accessible for all.
Now, onto the plan...
Initially, we aim to grow our audience and the support around our brand. We all know the saying, “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know”, and by making connections and raising funds, we'll be able to proceed with our idea.
Our next step will be to open a safe space where artists at the start of their career can access. The space will have studios and exhibition areas for rent at low cost, allowing starting artists to grow, gain experience and develop relationships.
Following on, we want to open the space to the community. Allowing people of all backgrounds a space to express their artistic skills, wither this be through art therapies, art rehabilitation, painting/drawing classes, or just a space to come and meet local people.
